Training to become a yoga teacher can be a transformative process, involving the study of yogic practices, history, philosophy and anatomy.

Felicity went through this process over five years ago and, with the knowledge and experience that she has gained since, she is now honoured to be in a position to mentor trainee and newly qualified yoga teachers.

Felicity’s vision is to support trainees throughout their training and beyond, through offering not only advice and coaching but also the opportunity to gain teaching experience. Teaching experience is hugely valuable for trainee yoga teachers to develop their skills, find their own teaching style and grow their self-confidence. However this is often an unsupported aspect of yoga teacher training programmes; trainee teachers often have to set up practice classes alone and without a qualified teacher attending to offer coaching. This often results in teachers graduating from a training programme with limited real-life experience and no mechanism to gain professional feedback or support.

Felicity’s intention is to give trainee teachers a platform from which they can gain experience and grow their skills so that they graduate their teacher training programme with the confidence and ability to teach high quality yoga classes.

When they are ready to do so, teachers who are being mentored by Felicity have the opportunity to gain teaching experience through teaching a regular class on our timetable by themselves. Felicity is sometimes in the class to assist and support the teacher, whilst at other times they are flying solo to give them space to evolve.

These classes are clearly communicated on our Group Classes page as being taught by a trainee teacher and are not-for-profit, with all profits being donated to Mind, the mental health charity which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

These not-for-profit classes are the same price as our regular Hatha, Hatha Flow and Vinyasa classes and are part of the normal block booking payment, so you can attend them as part of your block payment (£7 per class) or alternatively drop in (£8.50 per class).

Once a trainee teacher has graduated from their teacher training course they will go on to teach for us as a full time teacher, meaning that the variety and quantity of classes on our timetable will continue to grow. From the knowledge and skill that they’ll have gained through the mentoring process, upon graduation they’ll already be a competent and knowledgeable teacher, ready to offer a high standard of yoga tuition.

If you are a trainee or newly qualified teacher and you'd like to learn more about our mentorship programme, please contact us for further information.
