Fertility Yoga is relaxing form of yoga which supports emotional balance and wellbeing on the path towards pregnancy, with a focus on breathing, gentle movement and restorative postures. It takes the body into a more calm and relaxed state, reducing surges in stress hormones which can inhibit fertility. This can allow your body to direct energy towards reproduction, and can allow you the mental space to find emotional balance.

WHY FERTILITY YOGA?

The path to conception can be a stressful one. Aside from the pressures of everyday life, there are the additional strains associated with the anticipation of getting pregnant to cope with. Fertility Yoga not only releases physical tension in the body but it also creates mental space to allow you to be more at ease and accepting of the current situation.  It helps you to let go of stressful thoughts to reduce feelings of anxiety and frustration and therefore promotes emotional wellbeing.

At a time when you can be frustrated and feel let down by your body, yoga forms a positive connection with your body and promotes a sense of self-nurture. By releasing physical tension in the body and exploring postures which open and encourage blood flow to the hip and pelvic area there can be a sense of preparing the body for conception and pregnancy.

ANYBODY CAN PRACTICE

You don’t need any prior experience of yoga to practice Fertility Yoga, and you don’t need to be flexible, fit or strong. The practice can be done individually or together with your partner. The yoga is suitable for all stages of your path towards conception, whether you are preparing for the future, actively trying to conceive or undergoing IVF treatment. The practice is adjusted to accompany an IVF cycle at all of its different stages.

WHAT TO EXPECT

My Fertility Yoga classes include a combination of soft flowing movement, breathing exercises and restorative yoga postures to elicit a state of deep relaxation, allowing your mind and body to release.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT!

I provide all the mats and props for my classes but you are also welcome to use your own. It’s best to wear comfortable clothing and you don’t need footwear as yoga is done with bare feet. It’s nice to have warm clothing to pop on for the restorative part of the class, though I also provide blankets.

Fertility Yoga classes are available with private tuition so that I can work with you on an individual level at a time and in a place that suits you.
